In 2005 I began giving away samples of what a crisis communications plan SHOULD NOT look like. It saddens me to report that in April 2007 when 32 people were killed at Virginia Tech, I did a search on the internet and found Virginia Tech had the very same plan I had been giving away. Please call me at 985-624-9976 if you would like to discuss why the plan is inadequate.

There are many flawed plans just like this floating around the internet when people search for FREE CRISIS COMMUNICATION PLAN TEMPLATE or FREE CRISIS PLAN TEMPLATE. I’m always puzzled that a school or company worth millions of dollars and with thousands of students or employees would trust their reputation, financial health and the lives of their people to a FREE document. This is also a sad commentary that many people in public relations would trust that a 6 page FREE CRISIS COMMUNICATION PLAN TEMPLATE is the best they can hope for.
